Stopping the gator daemon

You might want to shut down the gator daemon, for example when updating it with a newer version.

To stop the gator daemon, follow these steps:

Procedure

  1. Determine the process id of gatord using the following command: ps ax | grep gatord
  2. Kill the identified process using the following command: kill process_id Replace process_id with the process identification number obtained in the previous step.

Postrequisites

Note

When you remove the gator daemon from the target, you must also unload the gator module so that the updated gator daemon matches the gator driver version. To check if the gator module is running, enter the following on the command line of your target:

lsmod | grep gator

If the gator module is loaded, unload it using the following command:

rmmod gator

You must be logged in as root to do this.
