About Mali-DP650

The ARM® Mali™-DP650 processor is the third ARM Mali display processor. It composes for resolutions from 1080p to 4K. The Mali-DP650 processor significantly reduces power consumption compared to the Mali-DP550 processor. It offers power savings of more than 25% at 1440p/1600p and more than 50% at 4K resolutions.

Building on the success of Mali-DP550, the Mali-DP650 display processor offers performance enhancements to enable more display use cases for high resolution mobile displays beyond Full HD (1920x1080 pixels). It is optimized for 2.5K formats including WQXGA (2560x1600 pixels) for tablets and WQHD (2560x1440) for a mobile screen. Mali-DP550 remains the display processor of choice for HD (1280 x 720 pixels) to Full HD devices.

Within a very small silicon area and at low energy consumption, Mali-DP650 offers support for up to seven display layer composition and includes energy efficient technologies such as AFBC.  In addition, its split-display mode feature enables MIPI-DPHY solutions to deliver resolutions beyond Full HD to mobile panels and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) allows for panel power saving, further extending the battery life of the device.
