Swift Navigation provides precise positioning solutions for automotive, autonomous vehicle, mobile and mass-market applications. What began as the GNSS industry’s first low-cost, high-accuracy, real-time kinematic (RTK) receiver has evolved into a Swift Navigation ecosystem of positioning solutions for autonomous applications including the Starling® positioning engine.

Starling is an advanced, hardware-independent, high-precision positioning engine that works with a variety of automotive-grade GNSS chipsets and inertial sensors making it ideal for autonomous applications. Starling’s software is platform-independent and enhances the measurements for commercially available GNSS receivers to provide centimeter-accurate results with high integrity. Starling supports the calculation of precise position, velocity and time (PVT) and when combined with inertial sensor measurements, wheel odometry and other sensor inputs, Starling can assist with vehicle localization, decision and control.

Additional products from Swift include GNSS corrections delivered from the cloud by the Skylark™ precise positioning service, the centimeter-level accurate Piksi® Multi OEM receiver board, the ruggedized Duro®GNSS-RTK sensor and Duro Inertial, a GNSS-INS receiver. Starling Positioning Engine

Standard GNSS positioning is 3-5 meters which is not suitable for safety-critical systems requiring lane-level accuracy. For higher levels of autonomous capability, a vehicle needs to be able to determine its absolute location. To achieve this, high precision localization is needed to get to centimeter accuracy. This partnership will deliver a high-integrity, high-accuracy GNSS positioning solution for silicon makers and Tier 1 and 2 auto suppliers to integrate precise positioning into the sensor suite. Swift Navigation’s Starling® is a GNSS positioning engine designed for just such automotive and autonomous vehicle applications.

Starling’s software enhances the measurements for commercially available GNSS receivers to provide precision positioning and integrity capabilities. Since Swift’s solution is receiver-agnostic, it is ideal for Arm customers as it works with a variety of automotive grade chipsets and inertial sensors.

Starling Evaluation Platform

STEP is an evaluation platform supporting the Automotive vertical. It provides a hardware platform for demonstration and evaluation of Swift’s Precision Positioning solution. It integrates ST’s TeseoV GNSS measurement engine together with ST’s Telemaco3 application processor, 6 DoF IMU and vehicle interface for additional sensor aiding. The ST Telemaco application processor, powered by Arm, hosts the Starling positioning engine.
