Preview Arm Forge

Preview releases provide early access to new features that will be included in the next major release of Arm Forge Professional. The latest preview release is version 19.1-preview1.

Release history

The latest preview contains the following changes:


New features and enhancements:

  • Support for debugging of IBM Spectrum MPI jobs launched with Spindle.
  • Support for Arm C/C++/Fortran Compiler up to version 19.1.
  • GDB 8.1 is now the default DDT debugger.
  • Support for the GDB 7.10.1 debugger has been removed.

Bug fixes:

  • [FOR-6659] Clarified information in the user guide about startup issues with OpenMPI 3.0 and 3.1.
  • [FOR-6142] Fixes an issue with memory debug, where the total number of free calls were double counted when using memkind_realloc.
  • [FOR-6503] Fixed an issue where variables named "array" in a struct were not evaluated.


New features and enhancements:

  • Support for displaying Caliper instrumented regions.
  • Improved GUI performance and reduced memory consumption when viewing large .map files.
  • Support for Arm C/C++/Fortran Compiler up to version 19.1.
  • Architecture information is now stored to the generated .map file.
  • MAP now displays stacks from Python code on non-main threads.

Bug fixes:

  • [FOR-6642] Improved unwinding for PGI-compiled binaries on Power systems.
  • [FOR-6659] Clarified information in the user guide about startup issues with OpenMPI 3.0 and 3.1.
  • [FOR-5518] Fixed an issue that caused a slowdown of the analysis phase when profiling Python scripts.


  • Preview releases are not fully tested to production quality. Because of this, they are for evaluation purposes only and are not recommended to be used in a production environment.
  • Limited support is provided for preview releases. Please contact Arm support.
  • Features in preview releases are liable to change prior to stable releases. No backwards compatibility can be assured for profiles generated with preview releases.
  • Remote clients from a preview release are only compatible with remote systems using the same preview release, and vice versa.

If the preview release is unsuitable for your requirements, then please download the latest release instead.

Upgrading to a newer version

If you have a current support contract, all upgrades are free - just download the latest version and install it on top of or side-by-side with your current version.

  • Centos, Fedora and Scientific Linux should use a Red Hat Enterprise Linux build.
  • Gentoo and OpenSuSE should use a SuSE Enterprise Linux Server build.
  • Debian and Mint should use an Ubuntu build.

Remote client for OS/X, Windows and Linux

Windows and OS/X builds are remote clients only - they allow you to connect to a cluster and debug or profile on it but do not let you debug and profile programs running on Windows or OS/X.
