Configure a floating license for Arm Forge

Before you begin

  • To use floating licenses, you must download and install Arm Licence Server on the designated license server machine.
  • A floating license consists of a server license file and a client license file. If you do not already have these files, request a valid license here.
  • Ensure that the client license contains the host name or IP address of the machine running the Arm Licence Server.

  1. On the machine where Arm Forge (Arm DDT, Arm MAP, Arm Performance Reports) is installed, create a directory called licenses in the /opt/arm directory.
  2. Copy your client license file to /opt/arm/licenses.
Note: If you choose to put the license file in a different location, use either the ALLINEA_LICENSE_DIR or the ALLINEA_LICENCE_DIR environment variables to point to it.

See Changing the license file location.
  3. Arm Forge searches for individual licenses in the Forge installation directory. If you do not have separate license files for Forge tools, set either the ARM_LICENSE_DIR environment variable to point these tools to your Arm license.
    export ARM_LICENSE_DIR=/opt/arm/licenses
  4. Add the server license file to the machine where Arm Licence Server is installed. Create a directory called licenses in the /opt/arm/licenceserver directory and copy your license file to it.
  5. Restart Arm Licence Server to enable it to detect the new floating license.
