Arm Online Training: 12 months later
It’s been almost 12 months since the launch of the Arm Online Training platform at Arm TechCon 2017. In that time our objectives have remained the same:
- Improve the training experience (including the classroom) for our partners
- Become more environmentally friendly by reducing printing
- Reach partners with our training that historically we’ve not been able to either due to geographic, audience size or training budget

Arm TechCon Launch 2017
To meet these objectives we have added more bite-sized, accessible, engaging content meeting the changing demands in adult learning and improved and added extra functionality. We have also made significant steps toward embedding the platform as an integral part of a blended learning experience for our face-to-face training attendees.
New modules in multiple languages
We are currently releasing on average a new one hour modules every 6 weeks, focusing on covering the majority of Arm’s different architecture profiles, and the supporting range of IP. New content including Arm DynamIQ, Arm DesignStart, and Arm CryptoCell online introduction modules are now available with plenty more in development. These modules, as well as those available at launch, are available with Korean Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese transcripts, widening the reach of the training and improving the learning experience.

A blended approach for face-to-face training
In more recent news, we have started to incorporate the online training platform as part of a blended learning approach for face-to-face training. Prerequisite online training is now available before the live classroom experience, giving attendees a head start with delegates claiming:
“it was definitely a good ramp up allowing to align and foster gained knowledge during the training.”
Online copies of course materials are also available (software only at this stage), for delegates to access before and after the course, saving paper, and making the content more searchable, something our partners have been requesting for several years. Feedback from our Trainers indicates that the pre-course online training is a real benefit in the classroom, but we need to ensure that all delegates have completed it before training, something we are taking steps to improve.

Active users
Our work has led to a dramatic increase in activity within the platform. We now have over 500 active users on the platform, in 39 different learning communities. The platform has also provided online pre-work for 16 classroom-based courses.
Online usage since launch
What's in store over the next 12 months?
Plans are in place for new training modules on Arm Cortex hardware behaviors, Mali Graphics, Machine Learning, and advanced Armv8. We also have plans to expand the platform to include content from Arm Approved training partner and EDA vendors where relevant.
We are, however, always listening to our partners, so please feel free to contact us if you have a specific online training topic of interest that you'd like to see made available.
There will also be improvements to the platform over the coming months with the integration of live virtual classroom events as well as improvements to eCommerce, online feedback, and closer integration with Arm Developer, making the user experience even slicker and more seamless.
