Python is an interpreted, high-level, general-purpose programming language with strong support on Arm. Since Arm processors are available in the cloud and at the edge, Python is a great choice for driving innovation in these environments.
As an interpreted language, Python programs can run wherever a Python interpreter is present. This means developers can exploit hardware performance characteristics across different platforms without needing to recompile their program.
If you are writing high performance code, or Graphical User Interface (GUI) apps, Python is often a good choice. High performance libraries are made available for Arm. These libraries offer native code that helps to maximize native performance and makes GUI apps simple to write and distribute.
There are tens of thousands of libraries in the Python ecosystem. These libraries are available and packaged by the operating system distribution or through the Python package management system, also known as pip. In most cases, because Python programs are interpreted, everything just works on Arm.
New features are introduced with each Python release. Arm developers can easily keep up with these releases, because distributions will always include the latest version in each release. If a long-term supported version is preferred, developers can subscribe for updates from their operating system distribution of choice.
